Tarapaca Gran Reservas, exceptional wines with great value

Tarapaca, Carmenère, Gran Reserva, Valle de Maipo, Chile, 2014 is dark ruby red in the glass. It has aromas of raspberry, blackberry with light green pepper backed my minerals, especially hints of graphite. The palate is filled with plenty of dark fruit up front with notes of dried fruit, light baking spices and earthy minerals. The Tarapaca, Carmenère, Gran Reserva has light tannins and a full mouth feel with crisp acidity on that lead to a long finish. Tarapaca, Carmenère, Gran Reserva is aged for eight months in French and American oak barrels. It will pair well with herb crusted … Continue reading Tarapaca Gran Reservas, exceptional wines with great value

Nieto Senetiner, Blend Collection, 2014, Mendoza, Argentina

Nieto Senetiner, Blend Collection, 2014, Mendoza, Argentina. This special blend from Nieto Senetiner is a blend of 60% Malbec and 40% Cabernet Franc. The wine is dark ruby red with violet highlights. The nose has strong aromas of cassis and black cherry baked by baking spices, minerals and perfumed wild flowers. The full palate is alive with plenty of upfront red and black fruits. The malbec shows plenty of backbone and power that is softened with the fruit of the Cabernet Franc. The long finish shows a great balance between fruit and acidity.
