Mulderbosch, Faithful Hound, Stellenbosch, South Africa 2012

IMG_1079 is named for a dog who waiter three long years waiting for his master who abandoned him outside a cottage to return. While the poor dog never saw his master again, the wine named for him is as great as his dedication. The Faithful Hound is dark garnet red in the glass. Aromas of red fruit and dark chocolate dominate the nose. Secondary aromas of earth and cigar box round out the nose. The palate is filled with tart strawberry and raspberry and backed with earth and minerals.

 

The Faithful Hound is a Bordeaux style blend, composed of 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc, 16% Merlot 14%, Malbec and 9% Petit Verdot. Enjoy the Mulderbosch Faithful Hound with a pan seared NY Strip Steak with a Crimini mushroom sauce.

 

While the Faithful Hound is drinking fantastic now, it will age gracefully for another 7-8 years easily.
