Susana Balbo’s Signature wines impress

Susana Balbo has been a force in the Argentinean wine world since graduating from the Don Bosco University in 1981 with a degree in wine making and became the first female enologist in Argentina. More than 4 decades later she is still perfecting her craft and is now assisted by her son Jose Lovaglio Balbo to create her new Signature Collection of wines.

 

Susana Balbo, Signature Rosé, Mendoza, Argentina, 1016 has an elegant pink rose tinge in the glass. Aromas of fresh summer peach, key lime, nectarine and some minerals on the back end. Susana Balbo Rosé’s palate is filled with tart lemon up front quickly fading into peach, pear and kiwi fruit. The palate is medium bodied with great mouth feel; the finish is balance with crisp acidity.

 

The Susana Balbo, Signature Rosé, Mendoza, Argentina, 1016 is a blend of 60% Mable and 40% Pinot Noir.

 

Pair with grilled vegetables for the perfect aperitif before dinner. Macerate juicy peaches in the Susana Balbo Rosé for a special healthy dessert treat.

 

Susana Balbo, Signature Barrel Aged Torrontes, Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina, 2014 is pale yellow with hints of green. The Susana Balbo, Signature Barrel Aged Torrontes, Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina, 2014 spends 3 months in new French oak barrels. The nose has aromas of petrol, naval orange, Gala apple and some wild flowers. The palate is medium to full with tropical citrus, white peaches, pears and minerals of the finish. The oak aging doesn’t take away from the grapes fresh nose and adds a nice dimension to the palate.

 

Enjoy with a plate of cured meats and hard cheeses.
