October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month and many organizations are joining the fight. Even the toughest guys in the NFL will wear pink cleats, towels and socks and then donate them for auction to help this cause. Break out your pink ribbons and display them proudly.
Spain’s number one sparkling wine, Anna de Codorníu is teaming up with SHARE, a support network for women and their families affected by breast and ovarian cancers.
SHARE offers support through educational programs, webinars and other support staffed by survivors of these horrible diseases. For over 40 years SHARE has been helping women afflicted with breast and ovarian cancers, by partnering with Anna de Codorniu they aim to expand their reach.
From the Rockin Red Blog, “Anna de Codorníu is proud to stand with SHARE in their mission to help women facing breast and ovarian cancers. Our company is committed to getting the word out so that more people can benefit from the hope and guidance SHARE has delivered to so many communities for almost 40 years,” says Melanie Pyne, Brand Director of the Spanish Wine Portfolio at Aveníu Brands.
SHARE’s Executive Director, Jacqueline Reinhard says, “Women facing cancer need support, hope and communal ties, which become a source of strength, fulfillment and healing. SHARE has a powerful mission that Anna de Codorníu can embrace to help us reach wider audiences.” SHARE operates the #1 support helpline for those suffering from or affected by breast and ovarian cancers, available in 15 languages, including Spanish-speaking women. Staffed by survivors, SHARE also offers grassroots survivor-led outreach programs in under-served communities.
A part of the SHARE and Anna de Codorníu program is the “Message on a Bottle.” Women are encouraged to write a message on the bottle of cava and share it on social media at #SHAREANNA. This unique way of spreading positive messages will give hope and comfort to patients and survivors alike. Plus drinking some great sparkling wine is also a fantastic treat and may even make for some creative messages. Look for displays of Anna de Codorníu in retailers in your neighborhood. Make sure to pick up a bottle of Anna de Codorníu Brut and Brut Rosè.
The Anna de Codorníu Brut, NV comes in an elegant white bottle, is light straw yellow and has aromas of citrus, yeast and toast. The palate is filled with fine bubbles and flavors or tart lemon, grapefruit and pineapple. All of those citrus flavors contribute crisp acidity, which is balanced with a long finish and yeasty notes. The Brut, NV is a blend of 70% Chardonay and 30% Parellada. This would pair great with a chilled seafood tower with cold-water oysters, shrimp cocktail and rich lobster tails. Of course it is great to enjoy on its own as well.
Packaged in a pink bottle, the Anna de Codorníu Brut Rose, NY is bright salmon colored. Tight bubbles rising to the top release aromas of orange, strawberries and rose petals. The palate has bold citrus fruits and tart raspberry. Pair the Brut Rosè with seafood in a light cream sauce or citrus marinated chicken. Pick up a few bottles!
