Franciscan Estate, Equilibrium, Napa Valley, California, 2014

While most of the United States will be cooling off as fall approaches and the leaves start changing color, Miami is still steaming. Hot humid days, the Atlantic still feels like a bathtub, white wine too cool off is still a must. A refreshing white with hints of tropical fruits backed with crisp citrus acidity.

FotoFlexer_Photoequilibrium is that wine needed to keep cool. A blend of 72% Sauvignon Blanc, 17% Chardonnay and 11% Muscat, the Franciscan Equilibrium is pale straw yellow. The nose is a blend of tropical fruits such as lychee, pineapple, passion fruit, wild flowers, Granny Smith apple and lemon. On the palate the Franciscan Equilibrium is lemony citrus and tropical fruits up front, summer peach followed by minerals on the back of the palate. Janet Myers the winemaker strikes the perfect balance between sweetness and crisp acidity to make the Equilibrium the perfect south Florida wine. That crisp acidity leads to a palate cleansing medium finish.

Franciscan, Equilibrium is perfect for spicy Thai Food. Also Korean BBQ is a perfect match. Asian food is growing in popularity around the Miami area and here is a great wine to pair with these cuisines.
